What is DIPG/DMG?

DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) is a type of brain tumor found in an area of the brainstem known as the pons that primarily affects children, with most diagnoses occurring between 5 and 7 years of age.

DMG (diffuse midline glioma) is a type of brain tumor that occurs in the midline structures of the brain; DMG can be located in the pons, thalamus, spinal cord, or cerebellum. DMG is the larger category, and DIPG is a specific type of DMG.

Groundbreaking Research

The DIPG / DMG Collaborative is a collection of foundations with the common interest of inspiring research into the cure of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) andDiffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) with the belief that through a cure for DIPG/DMG, significant advances in other cancer research will be made. Originally an organic development of the DIPG / DMG Symposium held in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA in 2011, today the DIPG / DMG Collaborative is made up of more than 25 foundations cooperatively funding millions of dollars of research worldwide.
